Govt to organise health camps to focus on health of women and children: Rawat

The State Health department will organise 4,114 special health camps in different parts of the State between the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi (September 1) to Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that these special health camps will be organised under the Swastha Nari Sashakt Pariwar campaign in the district hospitals, sub district hospitals, community health centres and Aysushman Arogya Mandirs of the State.
He said that the focus of these camps will be on the health of women and children and they will be provided with free health check-up, treatment and investigation. Free health check-ups for the general public will be done in these camps. Rawat said that voluntary blood donations and screening for TB patients will also be done in these camps and efforts will be made to increase the number of Ni-shay Mitras.
Giving further details the minister said 271 special health camps will be organised in Rudraprayag, 110 in Bageshwar, 528 in Tehri, 579 in Pithoragarh, 121 in Champawat, 368 in Nainital, 519 in Almora, 295 in Chamoli, 209 in Uttarkashi, 324 in Pauri, 18 in Udham Singh Nagar, 367 in Haridwar and 405 in Dehradun district during the campaign.
The check-up of blood pressure, diabetes, oral cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, anaemia, sickle cell anaemia and other non-communicable diseases will be done in these camps. The facility of immunization of children will also be available in the camps.
He said that the officers of the Health department have been directed to coordinate with the officers of linear departments and local administration for successful organisation of these camps.
The minister said that all the district magistrates have been directed for daily monitoring of the health camps in their districts. The chief medical officers (CMO) will help DMs in organisation of these camps. He said that the participation of minister in-charges, local MPs, MLAs, mayors of municipal corporations, district Panchayat presidents, block pramukhs and other local public representatives will be ensured in these camps.
