Non-registration on UIN: 35 arms licenses cancelled

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Nainital
The Nainital district administration has revoked 35 arms licenses for violating the rules of the National Arms License Portal being implemented by the Central Government. This action is warranted by non-registration on the UIN (Unique Identification Number).
This comes after the district magistrate Lalit Mohan Rayal expressed displeasure during a review of arms licenses over some of the license holders having not updated their digital records on the National Arms License Portal despite repeated notices. This amounts to a clear violation of the Arms Act and the government directives which may result in the cancellation of the licenses.
Explaining the action, the DM stated that obtaining a firearms license is not a simple right but a serious legal responsibility. “This step has been taken to ensure public safety, maintain law and order and effectively control illegal weapons,” he noted.
He appealed to all arms license holders in the district to ensure timely UIN registration, license renewal and updating of all details on the National Arms License Portal. “Failure to do so will result in further strict license cancellation action,” he warned.
