NSKFDC organises workshop for sanitation workers in Haridwar

The National Safai Karamcharis Finanace and Development Corporation (NSKFDC) organised a workshop under the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) at the premises of Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) on Friday. The event was held under the supervision of MCH commissioner Varun Chaudhary.

The officials informed that the scheme aims to the safety of sanitation workers, especially sewer and septic tank workers. They said that NAMASTE ensures the safety and dignity of sanitation workers in urban local bodies by creating an enabling ecosystem that recognises sanitation workers as one of the key contributors to the operations and maintenance of sanitation infrastructure. The workshop in the MCH premises also aimed to raise awareness among sewer and septic tank workers about safe cleaning practices and the importance of using PPE kits and other protective equipment.

During the workshop, Ayushman cards were also distributed to the workers by the assistant municipal commissioner Ravindra Dayal and chief sanitation inspector Sunit Sorayan. The team of NSKFDC demonstrated safety equipment fEmergency Response Sanitation Units (ERSUs) which was later handed over by the corporation to the Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan, the officials informed.
