Uttarkashi DM inspects rural poll preparations

With decks cleared for the three-tier rural polls following the lift of stay by the Nainital High Court, the Uttarkashi district administration has swung into preparations. The district magistrate, Prashant Arya conducted a field inspection of the election related arrangements in development block Bhatwari. He reviewed the arrangements of the nomination room, counting room and strong room.  He stressed on fool-proof security
during the process of bringing the ballot boxes from the strong room to the counting venue. Also, he directed the officials concerned to complete the barricading work as well as to provide basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, electricity supply and ramps for the disabled at all polling stations.

Calling Panchayat elections as the foundation of democracy, he laid emphasis on peaceful and flawless conduct of the rural polls in the district.
