Operation Prahar: Illegal raw liquor recovered at Purola

Under the ongoing ‘Operation Prahar,’ police team from Purola station, raided a forest area near village Raun Pulia and recovered 32 litters of illegal raw liquor. However, the two women, involved in liquor smuggling, fled towards the forest, leaving behind the liquor and their baskets (ghilda). Later, a case was registered in the Purola police station under appropriate sections of the Excise Act and police teams are now on the lookout for the liquor manufacturers and smugglers.
The Purola station house officer said that such raids are being conducted to rein in criminal elements and liquor/drug smuggling under the supervision of the deputy superintendent of police, Barkot, Chanchal Sharma.
In another achievement under ‘Operation Prahar,’ Purola police arrested a scamster identified as Rakesh Singh Padiyar (43), a wanted accused under Section 318(4) of the Indian Penal Code, from the Naugaon area. Later, he was presented before court.
Uttarkashi police stated that such drives would continue across the district under ‘Operation Prahar’ in time to come, which, they claimed, is immensely successful so far.
