With the onset of the tourism season, Nainital police have launched a massive campaign under Operation Prahar on the direction of the senior superintendent of police, Manjunath TC to rein in criminal and anti-social activities.
As per police sources, a checking drive was conducted under the Kotwal Hem Pant in Mallital and SO Manoj Nayal in Tallital during which challans were slapped on over 30 people. On the instructions of the SSP, police teams are continuously patrolling in Nainital town and special surveillance is being maintained in sensitive areas, in particular.
The police have meanwhile appealed to the people to cooperate with them in maintaining law and order. If any suspicious person or activity is seen anywhere, the people should immediately inform the nearest police station or control room, a senior police officer said. “People vigilance is an imperative for maintaining peace and order,” he added.
