Orange alert- intense spells of rain, thunderstorms & hail likely today

The State Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail, intense to very intense spells of rain and gusty winds (50-60 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat districts on Thursday.
A yellow warning has also been issued for thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, intense to very intense spell of rain and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/snow (at altitudes of 4,200 metres and above)/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat districts. Light to moderate rain/snow (at altitudes of 4,200 metres and above)/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in the remaining districts today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm accompanied with lightning/hail/gusty winds (40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State on Wednesday with 25 millimetres in Kanda, 16.5 millimetres in Berinag, nine millimetres in Lohaghat, seven millimetres in Champawat and a millimetre each in Ukhimath and Jageshwar.
