Thunderstorms with lightning/hail and squall gusting up to 70 kmph likely at isolated places

The rainy weather is expected to continue for a few more days in the State. The State meteorological centre has issued an orange alert regarding the possibility of thunderstorms and squalls in some parts of the State on Monday. The meteorological centre issued the warning (alert) on Sunday regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/ hail and squall (50-60 kmph gusting up to 70 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the State on Monday. Further, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Almora and Pithoragarh districts today. In addition to this, very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in the remaining districts of the State. The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Rain/thunderstorms accompanied with hail/squall (50-60 kmph gusting up to 70 kmph) are likely to occur in some areas towards the afternoon/evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively.

Meanwhile, the recent change witnessed in the weather has continued to keep the maximum temperatures comparatively lower in various parts of the State. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in different parts of the State on Sunday were 33.2 degrees Celsius and 19.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 33.7 degrees Celsius and 17.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22.6 degrees Celsius and 10.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.6 degrees Celsius and 11.8 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
