Pakistan condoles massacre of tourists in  Pahalgam

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE

With the global leaders, including Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin having condemned the terrorists-perpetrated massacre of tourists in Pahalgam in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir that killed 28 people, Pakistan Foreign Office on Wednesday said that it was condoling the death of tourists in the terror attack, adding that the terror group members had possibly crossed over from Kishtwar in Jammu and reached Baisaran through Kokernag in south Kashmir. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), had already claimed responsibility for the terror attack, the deadliest in the valley since the Pulwama terror strike in 2019.

Significantly, on April 15, the Pakistan Army chief General Asim Munir had dubbed Kashmir as Pakistan’s ‘jugular vein’, sparking a sharp response from New Delhi. He had said this while addressing the first Overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad attended by the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, senior ministers and Pakistanis living abroad.

Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah averred on Wednesday that the country would not bend to terror while vowing to go all-out to eliminate the perpetrators of the crime.

A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) is en route to Pahalgam and it is expected to provide assistance to the local police probing Tuesday’s dastardly terrorist attack.
