Pandey discusses sanitation and civic works with mayor

Municipal commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey met the mayor Saurabh Thapliyal here on Tuesday. The two had detailed discussions on sanitation, street lights and ongoing development works in the city.

The meeting also focused on the MCD’s action plan to keep the city clean and improve civic facilities for residents. Thapliyal said that the corporation’s priority is to provide better civic facilities to the public. He said that officers, employees and councillors will work together in coordination and with team spirit to achieve this goal. The mayor also said that special campaigns would be launched to improve Dehradun’s ranking in the Swachh Survekshan. He stressed the need to further strengthen the city’s sanitation system and ensure quick resolution of issues related to street lights.

During the meeting, the two also held discussions regarding upcoming municipal projects and speeding up development works in different parts of the city.

On the same day, Pandey also inspected various sections of the MCD to review their functioning and ongoing arrangements. He visited the health section and checked fogging machines, medicines and sanitation equipment. He also reviewed staff strength and the working system in the tax section. The commissioner inspected the birth and death registration counters along with the land section and Town Hall premises. During the visit, he interacted with employees and directed the officials to maintain discipline and ensure smooth functioning of all departments. Pandey instructed staff to clear pending work on priority and ensure speedy disposal of public-related matters. He also asked all departments to submit reports on the current status and progress of their ongoing works.
