The Panwal village of Beeronkhal block in the Chaubattakhal Assembly constituency of Pauri district has been facing problems due to absence of a connecting road to the main road. The people of this village have been demanding the road for about two decades. The villagers allege that due to the apathetic attitude of the government, the villagers are deprived of the facility of the road. The main problem of the people here is that they have to carry the patients to the hospital. The villagers have to carry a patient by ‘dandi’ to the main road covering a distance of about two kilometres through inclines and forest. There are two community health centres nearby in Pokhra and Beeronkhal blocks but due to inadequate treatment facilities, patients have to be taken to Satpuli.
Former Lok Sabha election candidate DPS Rawat said that the MLA of the Chaubattakhal constituency and cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj is also in charge of the Public Works Department. It is possible for the minister to get construction of the connecting road sanctioned. Rawat averred that during the elections, Maharaj had projected that the road would be constructed but the issue has been forgotten now. Rawat said that during his visit to his paternal village of Panwal, a woman who had fallen sick had to be carried to the main road before being transported to the hospital. He alleged that the two community health centres nearby have become mere showpieces lacking facilities for treatment, technician and senior staff. Rawat said that he will request chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to sanction the construction of the connecting road.
