PNS | DEHRADUN
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has claimed that the voters came out in large numbers to cast their votes for Congress party candidates and the party is set to win the urban local body polls in the State.
He also expressed gratitude to the people of the State and personnel deployed on election duty for a more or less peaceful voting. However, Mahara expressed his annoyance at the fact that names of a large number of Congress party supporters and other people were missing from the voter list.
He said that the issue points towards the irregularities and misuse of official machinery by the ruling party. He averred that it is unfortunate that the name of former chief minister Harish Rawat and his family was missing from the voter list. Mahara demanded that a high level inquiry should be conducted in the issue.
He said that complaints of bogus voting came from many wards of Dehradun which put up a question mark over the transparent and fair process of elections.
