Acting on the Uttarakhand High Court’s observation, the state government is now seriously mulling renovation and expansion of facilities at the BD Pandey District Hospital. Notably, following the Health secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey’s inspection, a technical team led by the assistant engineer Nirmal Thapa and junior engineer J K Tiwari from the government inspected the hospital building on Sunday.
The team assessed the condition of various parts of the building, including the leaking roofs. Based on the inspection report, the Health department is expected to take the next step.
The hospital authorities said that they had drawn the Health secretary’s attention to the dilapidated building and water leaking from roofs at several places along with other technical and infrastructural problems.
“The Health secretary assured us that a technical team would be sent and it would survey the building. The team came accordingly and inspected various parts of the old building. Besides, they took stock of the need for facility expansion at the hospital,” said a senior hospital officer.
