Following a threat emailed to the city police station on Tuesday, security was tightened in and around the city. As a precautionary measure, intensive checking was conducted in the municipal corporation premises and surrounding areas. Police teams thoroughly checked vehicles and inspected sensitive locations.
The city police station in-charge, Kundan Singh Rana later said that the police are fully alert and vigilant. He added that there is no room for any laxity in security arrangements. “Police are maintaining constant surveillance and keeping a close eye on any suspicious activity,” he said and appealed to the people to immediately report any suspicious person or object, if spotted. “Police are currently investigating the origin of the threatening email,” he assured.
