The Doiwala police arrested a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) accused who had been absconding for the past six months. The accused, identified as Kailash Chandra (32), was arrested on Sunday in Alipur, Haridwar, by a joint team of Doiwala police and the Rural Special Operations Group (SOG). There was a Rs 25,000 reward on his arrest.

The circle officer (CO) Doiwala, Vandana Verma said that the case was registered at Doiwala police station on December 2025 after a resident alleged that the accused, who was living as a tenant in the neighbourhood, had lured and sexually assaulted his minor daughter, who has a mental disability. The accused had been on the run since the case was registered and kept changing his hideouts to avoid arrest.

Police said that several teams were formed to trace the accused. After intelligence gathering and technical surveillance, the police received information about his location in Haridwar and arrested him while acting on the tip-off. The accused will now be produced before the court, police said.
