Police arrest inter-state criminals from Noida for burglary in retired police officer’s house

The police arrested three inter-state criminals from Noida on charges of burglary in the residence of a retired police officer in the Race Course area of Dehradun. Addressing mediapersons here on Wednesday, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Janmejaya Khanduri said that the retired police officer Kaviraj Negi filed a complaint in the Nehru Colony police station about a theft that took place on February 20 in his house when he and his family were in Jaipur to attend a family wedding. According to him, he and his family had left for Jaipur on February 14 and one of their house helps contacted them on February 20 to inform them that he found the lock of the house broken in the morning. Considering the complaint of a senior retired police officer and senior citizen, Khanduri said that a team was formed and the police started the investigation. He said that forensic teams were called to gather the potential evidence from the scene and CCTV footage was also reviewed that revealed a suspicious car nearby the house. The police got the phone number of the car owner and tracked him down and other accused to Gautambudh Nagar in Noida. The police nabbed all three accused there with stolen lakhs of rupees, several pieces of gold jewellery, silver jewellery besides coins, idols and biscuits of gold and silver metal. The DIG said that the accused- Ramshankar Kushwaha, Rajkumar Nagar and Arun, revealed during the investigation that they decided to rob the said house at night when they noticed it to be locked on February 20. They robbed the house in the night but failed to sell the stolen items.Kahnduri said that according to the accused Kushwaha and Arun, they both lived in Delhi but met each other when they were inmates in Tihar jail in 2011 and remained friends even after getting out of there. The police informed that as per the accused, they decided to carry out burglaries in Dehradun after they failed to get any work in Delhi due to Covid-19 pandemic. Here they met the third accused Arun and included him in their plan too.The DIG said that there are several cases registered against the accused and police are looking into all other possible crimes they had committed in here or other states.
