The police on Monday arrested three men from Mussoorie who used to steal tourists’ mobile phones. The men belong to Jharkhand and had specially come to Mussoorie to steal people’s expensive mobile phones during peak tourist season, said the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh.
He said that a complainant named Amrita, a resident of GMS Road, Dehradun filed a complaint that she had gone to Mussoorie Sunday with her family during which her mobile was stolen by some unknown persons. He said that the police registered a complaint in Mussoorie Kotwali and inspector Manoj Aswal started an investigation. He said that the police had also received similar complaints from many people in recent times.
Considering this, the police started a thorough investigation and finally nabbed the three accused on Monday. The accused have been identified as Sunny Kumar, his brother Mani Kumar, and their accomplice Saurabh Kumar and all belong to Jharkhand’s Sahibganj area, said Singh. He said that the police recovered 12 mobile phones of different brands from the possession of the three accused.
The police will start the process to ensure the owners of these stolen mobile phones get them back. He also instructed all police officials to keep an eye on such thieves and miscreants in tourist places, especially till the New Year celebrations are over.
