Police arrested five women and two men during a raid at Good and Happy Spa and Salon located in Pentagon Mall in Haridwar late on Tuesday. The raid was carried out by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and SIIDCUL police, who also recovered objectionable material from the spot.
The officials informed that as per investigation, the operation was being run by a woman from RK Puram Colony. They stated that she had been allegedly bringing women from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Muzaffarnagar for several years and running a prostitution racket under the cover of spa and salon services. In the same mall, the police also found some irregularities at Flute and Fly Spa and Salon, where action was taken against the woman in charge through a challan, as per the officials.
The arrested men were identified as Sachin and Ganesh, both residents of Rishikesh. The officials informed that a case has been registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act at SIIDCUL police station against the accused. Police are also investigating the criminal background of other people linked to the network, they added.
