Police draw up traffic & security plan for Christmas, New Year

Ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh held a review meeting with all officers at Police Lines on Monday. All police stations in-charge of the district participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
Singh directed all officers to conduct regular checking and verification drives in their respective areas to maintain law and order. He also said that special vigilance is required during the festival season.
Keeping in view the expected surge in tourist footfalls during the festivities, SSP instructed officials to identify traffic congestion points in advance and prepare an effective traffic diversion plan to ensure smooth movement and avoid inconvenience to the tourists and residents.
Singh also issued strict instructions to take strong action against any drug peddling attempt. He ordered the officers to take action against them under the Gangster Act and PIT NDPS Act. He further directed that properties illegally acquired through drug trafficking should be identified and seized as per court orders.
Addressing the meeting, the superintendent of police (SP), Traffic, Lokjeet Singh said that additional police personnel have been deployed to control traffic in the city. He added that special teams are monitoring areas prone to traffic jams and a detailed plan has been prepared to ensure smooth traffic flow during the festival season.
