Police file chargesheet against five accused in ISBT gangrape case

The police filed a chargesheet against five accused in the Dehradun ISBT gangrape case on Wednesday. The hearing of the case will be in the fast track special court to expedite the trial. The police have gathered sufficient evidence to prove all the accused guilty in the court, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said.

He informed that there are 35 witnesses in the case including a person who saw the five accused coming out of the roadways bus after the gangrape happened, the members of child welfare committee (CWC), doctors, some police officials and others. “We have gathered all kinds of evidence from physical to digital to forensic level in the case. We have traced the whole incident that reportedly happened since the victim boarded the bus from Kashmere Gate in Delhi till she reached Dehradun ISBT. We have left no stone unturned to gather all possible evidence to make our case strong against all accused in the court,” he said. \

The SSP also informed that the victim and the main eyewitnesses have identified all the five accused verifying that they were those men who committed the crime as per them. “We filed the chargesheet against these accused on Wednesday. Our case is strong and we are optimistic that they will be brought to justice,” Singh said. He further informed that the victim had stated that she was also reportedly raped by a man in her hometown in Uttar Pradesh about six weeks before the Dehradun ISBT gangrape incident. “We have informed about the said incident to the respective authorities in UP along with necessary information. They will possibly contact the victim after she returns to her hometown with the approval of CWC here,” he said
