In latest news from Dehradun, the district police claimed to have found vital clues regarding the daring daylight heist at an eminent jewellery showroom in the upscale Rajpur Road that occurred on Uttarakhand State Foundation Day.
Notably, some armed robbers, faces hidden by masks, had barged into the showroom just after it opened, kept its security guards and staffers captive at gunpoint and then decamped with jewellery worth around Rs 10 crore.
Sharing information, a senior district police officer, privy to the investigation, said that they had found the clues while doing forensic examination of the car found abandoned in the Selaqui area of the city on the night of the robbery.
Investigation revealed that the car had been hired by two men from Delhi to Agra in June and then the car had been looted by the duo in Agra. On June 10, a car theft complaint had been lodged. A special police team of the district police has been dispatched to Agra as part of the investigation. Besides, several teams, formed to crack the heist, have been sent to different locations across the country.
