Police nab accused absconding for 25 years

The Pauri district police have arrested an accused absconding for the last 25 years from Noida on Sunday. The accused Rakesh Chandra Guniyal who was working in private company in the industrial area of Sonipat-Delhi border was arrested from Noida. Senior superintendent of police Yashwant Singh Chauhan announced a cash reward of Rs 5,000 for the police team which arrested Guniyal.
According to the police, Ram Singh Kaithat, secretary of Garhwal Mandal multiple cooperative society limited had lodged a report against its employee Rakesh Chandra Guniyal in Pauri Kotwali in the year 1990. The report alleged that the accused had embezzled Rs 41,299 from the petrol pump of the cooperative society. The police registered a case against the accused under section 409 of the Indian Penal Code. The accused did not appear in the court despite repeated summons. He was declared an absconder in 1997.
