Police prepare to prevent escalation of Gyan Godadi issue

On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti to be held on Tuesday, some Sikhs have announced their plan to reach Har Ki Paidi and offer Ardas there for “freeing” Gyan Godadi Gurudwara.Sikh leader SS Dhillon has appealed to the people through social media that a large number of people should reach Har Ki Paidi and join the Ardas.

The first Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Nanak is believed to have given a discourse after reaching Har Ki Paidi. The site where the discourse was given is believed to be Gyan Godadi Gurudwara by some Sikhs. It is claimed that during beautification in the 80s, that Gurudwara was removed. It is claimed that the place where the Bharat Scouts and Guides office is situated was the place where Gurudwara existed in the past. A site has been given for Gurudwara near Premnagar Ashram where some members of the Sikh community have been protesting for the past four years. Haridwar SSP Ajai Singh briefed the police force and spoke to the Sikh community regarding the Gyan Godadi issue on Monday to ensure peace and order.
