Police to conduct physical verification of those residing in Uttarakhand for over a decade

In order to maintain law and order during the ensuing Char Dham Yatra, the police will conduct a 10-day intensive campaign to verify the people residing in the state for over a decade. The police will also run the Operation Maryada campaign for three months to ensure that pilgrims maintain the sanctity of pilgrimages and tourists maintain sanitation across the state. The Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar issued these orders to zonal officials and district in-charges in a virtual meeting conducted on Wednesday. He said that physical verification of people residing in the state for over 10 years including vendors, tenants and businessmen among others will be done from April 21 to 30. He also directed officials to take action against offenders and impose penalties under the Operation Maryada campaign. The DGP also issued instructions to the officials to prepare an action plan to deal with potential disasters or calamities in vulnerable areas across the state.He also directed the officials to regularly monitor social media platforms and keep an eye on those that can potentially cause communal tension in the state.
