Post-monsoon showers likely in five districts today

Even as some parts of the State witnessed trace to very light rain on Sunday, light rain and thunderstorms are likely in some parts of the State on Monday. The post-monsoon showers are forecast in five mountain districts of the State. With light snowfall having been reported in some of the higher reaches of the State recently, the rain may bring the mercury level down though many places in the State continued to witness above normal temperatures on Sunday too.

According to the State meteorological centre, very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts today. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State.

The meteorological centre has further forecast that mist is likely to occur during the morning hours in the provisional State capital while mainly clear to partly cloudy sky is expected during the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Sunday were 30.8 degrees Celsius and 16.7 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 33 degrees Celsius and 19.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22.5 degrees Celsius and 8.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 22.1 degrees Celsius and 11.1 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum and minimum temperatures were two and one degrees above normal respectively in Dehradun while the maximum was two degrees and minimum was four degrees above normal in Pantnagar. Similarly, the maximum temperature was three degrees above normal in Mukteshwar though the minimum was normal. The maximum was a degree below normal while the maximum was a degree above normal in New Tehri. Meanwhile, there was two millimetres of rain in Sama and 0.5 millimetre each in Jakholi and Song on Sunday.
