PRD personnel to receive honorarium even during hospitalisation: Arya

 PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Uttarakhand government has announced that Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD) Jawans who fall ill or get injured during duty or training and get hospitalised will continue to receive their honorarium for the duration of their treatment.

Youth Welfare and PRD minister Rekha Arya stated that this arrangement, made as per the chief minister’s Pushkar Singh Dhami announcement, will provide financial security to PRD Jawans, allowing them to focus on recovery without worrying about their income.

Arya emphasised that PRD volunteers serve various departments with complete loyalty and dedication, even under challenging circumstances. Therefore, it is the government’s responsibility to support them in the event of an accident or illness while on duty. To address this, a system has been implemented to pay honorarium for a maximum of 180 days, considering the period of hospitalisation as ‘on duty’.

She also said that the government has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure transparent and uniform implementation of this system throughout the State. Eligible PRD volunteers will receive benefits under this scheme according to the established procedures. “Under the leadership of the CM, the State government is consistently making concrete decisions for the welfare and social security of PRD personnel. Necessary steps will continue to be taken in the future to protect the interests of these volunteers and ensure their welfare,” she stated.
