66 fire incidents reported across Uttarakhand during Deepawali night

A total of 66 fire incidents were reported from different districts across Uttarakhand between the night of Deepawali on Monday and the early hours of Tuesday during the Deepawali festival. The officials informed that fire units responded promptly at all reported locations and brought the situations under control. No loss of life was reported in any of the incidents, reflecting the timely response of the Uttarakhand Fire and Emergency Services and public cooperation. They informed that the number of fire incidents recorded this year remained lower compared to previous years, mainly due to early awareness drives and social media appeals for fire safety and careful handling of fireworks by citizens.

The officials said that to ensure quick emergency response, 129 fire units had been specially deployed across the State. The arrangement enabled timely intervention and prevention of major losses in several areas.

As per the data, Dehradun city and nearby regions recorded the highest number of fire-related reports during the night, with 12 incidents involving houses, shops, vehicles, scrap materials and electric poles. Fires were reported from locations such as Dharmawala, Niranjanpur, Mehuwala, and Chandrabani. Separate incidents were also reported from Rajeev Nagar, Saraswati Vihar, and Old Rajpur Road. I

n Vikasnagar, two fire incidents at Dakpathar and Vinod Vihar were controlled in time. In Rishikesh, seven incidents were reported and contained by fire units. In Doiwala, two minor fire cases caused by fireworks were extinguished. Roorkee reported two fire incidents involving an electric pole and a household temple. In Mayapur, four fires in scrap warehouses, abandoned structures and vehicles were brought under control.

A major fire at Bajaj Sons Limited factory in Bhagwanpur was contained through a joint operation of two fire units. At Sibbunagar in Kotdwar, a restaurant caught fire, destroying furniture, cash and other items before being completely extinguished by three fire tenders. Another fire at Malviya Udyan, triggered by firecracker sparks, was also doused quickly. In Nainital, fires near Mohanko shops were contained before spreading, while in Haldwani, minor fires at three locations were put out with local assistance.

In Rudrapur, two incidents in Dineshpur and Transit Camp areas caused by fireworks were controlled before spreading. Tanakpur reported two small fires, one in the Mela Tanki area and another at Chhinigoth, both caused by fireworks and managed without casualties. Fire units in several other locations, including Doiwala, Tanakpur, Roorkee, Pauri, Dehradun, Bazpur and Gopeshwar, also responded to minor fire incidents caused by fireworks or short circuits, ensuring complete control in each case, the officials said.
