Preparations begin for the budget session of U’khand Vidhan Sabha

The Vidhan Sabha secretariat has swung into action to make necessary preparations for the upcoming budget session of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha. The five- day long session would commence on March 9 at Gairsain, the summer capital of the State in the Chamoli district. Being the first session of 2026, the session will begin with the address of the governor lieutenant general (rtd) Gurmit Singh. The Vidhan Sabha secretariat has so far received a total of 520 questions from the members for the budget session.
The officiating secretary of Vidhan Sabha Hem Chandra Pant said that the Vidhan Sabha secretariat will continue to receive the questions from the members till the commencement of the session. He said that preparations are in full swing for the session in Bharadisain. Pant said that a team of Vidhan Sabha employees has reached Bharadisain and has started making preparations for the session. The district administration of Chamoli is also making necessary preparations for the session which would be organised from March 9 to 13. The Vidhan Sabha speaker Ritu Khanduri is also expected to visit Bharadisain soon to take stock of the preparations for the session.
The session will commence with the address of the governor in which the State government will highlight its achievements and the roadmap for the year. This would be followed by a vote of thanks on the address of governor in which members of both ruling party and opposition will participate. In the session, the Pushkar Singh Dhami government will table its budget for the financial year 2027-28. It is expected that the CM who also holds the finance portfolio will table a budget of about Rs 1.15 Lakh crore during the session. The State government had tabled a budget of Rs one lakh crore last year.
