Preparations underway for trip card issuance during Char Dham Yatra

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Transport department has initiated preparations for the trip card designated for the commercial vehicles participating in this year’s Char Dham Yatra. The nodal officer for the Char Dham Yatra and the Regional Transport Office (Administration) Sandeep Saini stated that the department is preparing as the start of the Char Dham Yatra approaches.

Recently, the green card system has been launched and alongside this, efforts for the trip card has also begun. He said that the trip card is specifically for commercial vehicles that visit the Dham and it is issued through an online process, tailored for each Dham, he said.He further added that the card includes information about the driver, pilgrims and others involved. Saini said that in the previous year, a trip card was issued to the relevant individuals for a specific period at each Dham. However, if an individual concerned returned from the Dham earlier than the period stated on the trip card, they were required to visit the designated office to cancel the trip card, which posed a challenge.

To address this issue, it has been decided this year that if an individual returns early from the Dham as recorded on the trip card, they will be able to cancel it at the checkpost located along the Yatra route, eliminating the need to go to the office. He said that interested individuals can apply for the trip card by visiting the online website. The primary purpose of the trip card during the Char Dham Yatra is to monitor overspeeding. For example, if someone visits a specific Dham and returns on the same day, cancelling their trip card, it can help assess whether individuals are speeding excessively by tracking their early return. Additionally, this will provide information regarding individual details and more.

Saini said that the issuance of trip cards for Char Dham usually begins when the Yatra is about to commence. Since the Char Dham Yatra is set to start on April 19 this year, the issuance of trip cards is expected to begin around April 15 or 16, he added.
