President Murmu reviews landmark IMA parade

First batch of women officer cadets commissioned in the academy’s 94-year history

The Indian Military Academy (IMA) scripted history on Saturday with the commissioning of its first batch of nine women officer cadets during the Passing Out Parade (PoP) attended by President Droupadi Murmu as the chief guest.
The milestone marks a significant moment in the academy’s 94-year history and a major step towards greater inclusion of women in the armed forces.

Addressing the cadets, the President said the commissioning of the first women officer cadets had opened new avenues for women in the military and would inspire many more to join the armed forces in the future.
She expressed confidence that women would continue to strengthen the nation’s defence services through their dedication, leadership and professionalism.
