Prez offers puja at Badrinath shrine

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the President Droupadi Murmu reached the Badrinath on the second day of her three-day visit to Uttarakhand. As the special chopper carrying the President landed at Bardinath Army helipad she was welcomed among others by the Governor Lt General (Retd) Gurmit Singh, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Sri Badri-Kedar Temple Committee chairman Ajendra Ajay. She offered puja at the shrine and after the darshan, the CM presented her aarti of Lord Badri Vishal written on bhojpatra and a memento. Among those present at the shrine when the President was offering puja was the chief priest of the shrine Eshwar Prasad Namboodiri, the district magistrate Chamoli and senior police officers. Following the puja at the shrine, she left for Srinagar to attend the 11th annual convocation of the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. Earlier, in Raj Bhavan in Dehradun, she had met and interacted with particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTG) and urged them to fully avail the welfare initiatives being rolled out by the Centre and the state government to become self-reliant. She stressed on both economic and educational development of the PVTG people and said that the people of Uttarakhand, including its tribal people, had been advanced in the realm of education for years. She further said that for progress, one must be skilled in one field and urged the tribal community people to select one particular area of economic activity. During this interaction, delegation of the Buksa and Raji communities which come under PVTG presented the President with shawl and paintings.
