The Health department in association with the Prisons department has launched a massive campaign to check the health of the prisoners. In the campaign, the prisoners would be tested for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), HIV, TB and hepatitis. In a meeting of a State oversight committee held on Monday, the additional project director, Uttarakhand State AIDS control society, Dr Ajay Nagarkar said that the campaign would be undertaken in the months of May and June.
In the meeting discussion on starting this campaign simultaneously in all the ten prisons of the State was held.
The meeting was attended by the officers of the department of prisons, National Health Mission (NHM), the State AIDS control society, child and women development department.
