Private employee held with stolen copper wire at ONGC facility

A private employee working at an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) facility in Dehradun was arrested after he was allegedly caught carrying stolen copper wire on his scooter, police said on Thursday. The Cantt police recovered 17.850 kilogrammes of copper wire from the scooter.

According to police, Rahul Bisht, a private employee at the KMDIPE ONGC facility, was allegedly carrying the copper wire when he was caught by Central Industrial Security Force personnel. Company commander Anand Mohan Singh and another person, Ankur Kumar, brought the accused to Cantt police station.

Police said the copper wire was found during a search of the scooter. The recovered material weighed 17.850 kilogrammes. A complaint was then filed against Bisht at Cantt police station.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Rahul Bisht under Sections 305(D) and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police took him into custody and started further legal proceedings. The police said Bisht is a resident of Raipur in Dehradun. He was being produced before the court for further proceedings.
