The general secretary of the Congress party, Priyanka Gandhi will address election rallies in Ramnagar and Roorkee on Saturday. She will be the first star campaigner used by the Congress to canvass for the candidates in the State after declaration of the elections. Gandhi will try to woo women voters in Garhwal and Haridwar Lok Sabha constituencies. It is believed that she will raise the issue of murder of Anikta Bhandari and will try to corner the government on failing to identify the VIP involved in the case. In Haridwar she is likely to raise the issue of farmers.
As per the programme, Gandhi will address a public meeting at Pirumadara of Ramnagar at 11.50 am in support of Congress candidate from Garhwal Ganesh Godiyal.
Thereafter she will travel to Roorkee where she will address a public meeting at DAV college ground at 3.00 pm in support of Congress candidate Virendra Singh Rawat.
The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Mathuradutt Joshi said that the state in- charge of Congress party Kumar Selja, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, the leader of opposition (LoP) in State assembly Yashpal Arya, the head of campaign committee Pritam Singh, the co- in- charge Deepika Pandey, MLA, former MLAs and other party leaders will be present in the rallies of Gandhi in the State.
Joshi said that the PCC has made all the preparations for the success of the rallies of Priyanka Gandhi. The in- charge of the State Congress Kumari Selja and PCC president Mahara visited Roorkee on Saturday to review the preparations for the rally.
Mahara has made an appeal to the Congress workers to attend the rallies of Priyanka Gandhi in large numbers so that the message of five Nyay and 25 guarantees of Congress party reaches to every household.
