Prof Chauniyal nominated as President of IGI
Noted academician and former Professor of Geography at HNB Garhwal university, D D Chauniyal has been nominated as President of the Indian Institute of Geomorphologists (IGI). He was chosen as chairman at the recent 32nd national convention of IGI held at department of Geography at state university of West Bengal. Incidentally Chauniyal is the first person from the state to be nominated on the coveted post. He has worked as professor in HNB University for a period of 35 years during which he emerged as an authority in the field of Geomorphology. A total of 25 Research scholars have so far done their doctorate in geomorphology under his guidance. He has authored many textbooks and research papers. At present Chauniyal is visiting Professor at Dr Nityanand Himalayan Research and Study Centre, Doon University.
