The Kumaon commissioner and secretary to the chief minister, Deepak Rawat directed Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) to list the areas to be affected by power outage and publish the list in newspapers. Taking a serious note of the people suffering from unannounced power outages for hours, he issued strict instructions to the UPCL’s chief engineers working in Haldwani and Rudrapur.
The commissioner stated that the department often publishes information in newspapers about power supply disruptions to a particular feeder, but does not disclose the areas to be affected. “This leaves consumers unaware of when power supply disrupts in their areas, causing them inconvenience,” he said.
He directed that in future publications of power outages on any feeder must include the names of all affected areas connected to that feeder. “This will provide consumers with advanced information and allow them to make necessary preparations for power outages,” he added.
