One person died and four others were injured as the car they were in crashed on NH-309A on the Ghat-Panar Road stretch under Barakot tehsil limits after being struck by a falling rock around noon Monday.
The district emergency operations Centre, Champawat, informed that the car was traveling from Timta, Gangolihat, to Pithoragarh. The deceased was identified as Sandeep Kumar (35), a resident of Timta village, Gangolihat, while the three of those injured were Sunil Kumar (23), Subhash Ram (40), Manohar (45), and Rahul (32), all residents of Timta village, Gangolihat. Four of the injured were taken to the sub-district hospital, Lohaghat, while one was taken by his family to the district hospital, Pithoragarh.
Upon receiving the information, teams from the police, revenue department, fire department, SDRF, 108 ambulance, and medical department were activated. SDRF and 108 ambulances, along with revenue and police teams, were dispatched to the scene.
