Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said Dhami said that even in today’s digital age, radio’s credibility and utility remain intact.
He was addressing a programme organised to mark the launching of a FM radio channel in Dehradun on Monday.
In his address, the CM said that radio remains a highly effective medium for public communication, public awareness and social consciousness. He added that radio is a medium of information, education and entertainment that reaches even the most marginalized individuals.
Radio has played a crucial role in effectively disseminating information about the government’s welfare schemes, social concerns, disaster management, health, education, environmental protection and other important issues to the public, he said.
Dhami averred that the State government is working to ensure national recognition to Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage, folk languages, folk arts, folk music and local talents through various communication platforms.
He expressed confidence that community and FM radio will play a vital role in promoting local issues, positive news and public participation in the State.
