The Congress Uttarakhand in-charge Kumari Selja said that there is a lack of internal coordination in the Bharatiya Janata Party State government and that the people of Uttarakhand want a change. She said this after arriving in Dehradun on Sunday to check preparations for Lok Sabha leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi’s two-day Uttarakhand visit. After reaching Dehradun, Selja along with senior party leaders including Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal and the party’s election management committee head Harak Singh Rawat, inspected the venue of Gandhi’s proposed meeting.
Addressing Congress office bearers at the party’s State headquarters, she said that Gandhi is taking the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly election seriously. This is why he will be on a two-day State visit much before the polls. He will address a public gathering in Almora and interact with ex-servicemen in Pauri on June 4. He will interact with party leaders in Dehradun on the next day. Selja said that this visit is important and shows that Gandhi stands with the people of Uttarakhand in good and bad times while also raising the State’s issues prominently.
She said, “There is a major lack of coordination within the BJP State government with its leaders, MLAs and ministers busy in factionalism. This is the time for change in the State as the people are not happy with the government’s work. The Congress workers should take advantage of this opportunity and work to bring about change in the State. Our leaders and office bearers should now focus on Rahul Gandhi’s visit and work to make it a success. He will raise the State’s issues in the public gathering in Almora because public welfare issues are being consistently ignored by the BJP government. Women are not getting justice while the unemployed are still searching for jobs in the State. Our leader will jolt the government out of its sleep. In Pauri, he will interact with ex-servicemen and try to learn about their issues. The Congress has always stood with ex-servicemen and fought for their honour and rights. Reaching Dehradun, Rahul Gandhi will hold a meeting with the party’s State office bearers, former MPs, MLAs, former MLAs and other leaders while guiding them for the 2027 elections,” Selja said.
Godiyal said that Gandhi will raise burning issues of the State during his two-day visit. Other party leaders also expressed their views in the meeting.
