Warning- Intense spells of rain, thunderstorms & snowfall likely on Monday

With rain, thunderstorms and hail bringing the temperatures down across the State on the weekend, similar weather could be witnessed on Monday.

The State Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, gusty winds (speed 40-50 Kmph) and intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in the plains districts today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms/snowfall (at altitudes of 3,800 metres and above) are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and at a few places in the remaining districts on Monday.

Provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of very light to light rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature dropped nine degrees Celsius below normal to 26.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum dropped by five degrees to 17 degrees Celsius in Dehradun on Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures were 32 degrees Celsius and 23.9 degrees Celsius respectively in Pantnagar, 14.8 degrees Celsius and 9.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 18.6 degrees Celsius and 10.5 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in various locations with 31 millimetres in Champawat, 21 millimetres in Bageshwar, 11 millimetres in Kalsi, 10 millimetres in Rishikesh, and nine millimetres each in Rudraprayag and Jageshwar.
