People in various parts of the State are experiencing some relief from the heat. The light rains being experienced in different regions of the State have brought the maximum temperature down by a few notches at a time when it was nearing 40 degrees Celsius. This trend is likely to continue on Friday with the State meteorological centre forecasting the possibility of very light to light rainfall/thunderstorm likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts today. Dry weather is likely to prevail in remaining districts of Uttarakhand while surface winds are likely to be strong and gusty during the day time.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear sky with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively on Friday. Meanwhile the rainfall recorded in different parts of the State on Thursday was 11 millimetres in Gangolihat, 6.5 millimetres in Berinag, five millimetres in Bageshwar, three millimetres in Ganai-Gangoli/Shama and 2.5 millimetres in Kanda. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places were 35 degrees Celsius and 18.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 33.8 degrees Celsius and 19.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 24.1 degrees Celsius and 11.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25 degrees Celsius and 13.4 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
