Rains to bring relief from rising temperatures in various parts of U’khand today

Dehradun experienced some relief from the rising temperatures on Monday with the maximum temperature climbing down a notch compared to Sunday, though it has remained above normal. The weather is expected to remain similar in the plains on Tuesday. However, on orange warning has been issued regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/hail/ intense to very intense spell of rain/ gusty winds (speed 40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Nainital, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. A yellow warning has been issued regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain/ gusty winds (speed 40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining mountainous districts of the State. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/gusty winds (speed 40-50 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places over Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts.

Further, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms/snowfall (at altitudes of 4,400 metres and above) are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and at a few places in remaining mountainous districts of the State. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in the plains of the State today.

The State Meteorological Centre said on Monday that during the past 24 hours, maximum temperatures remained appreciably above normal in plains and above normal to appreciably above normal in mountainous regions. No significant change is likely to occur in the maximum temperature during the next 24 hours over Uttarakhand. Maximum temperatures are likely to fall by 3-5 degrees Celsius during the subsequent 3-4 days.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 37 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Monday were 37.9 degrees Celsius and 21.7 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 37.8 degrees Celsius and 19.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 28.6 degrees Celsius and 14.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 28 degrees Celsius and 14.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
