Raphael celebrates 64th founders’ day

Raphael Ryder Cheshire International Centre celebrated its 64th founders’ day on Wednesday. Notably, Raphael, established in 1959 by Group Captain Leonard Cheshire and Baroness Lady Sue Ryder, has been working for the education and training of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the control and treatment of tuberculosis and providing a life of dignity for persons with severe disabilities, including leprosy, and also for those who have been abandoned by their families.
The programme commenced with a welcome speech by the centre’s CEO Priyo Lall who emphasised on the importance of inclusion. Parents were encouraged to come together to raise their voices and demand rights not only for their children but for themselves too. The Doon School headmaster Jagpreet Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.
The cultural programme included a Garhwali folk dance followed by a zumba and Kathak performances. The grand finale was a performance of the Oscar winning Natu Natu.
