Reacting sharply to the recent raid of Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the close aide of former chief minister and Congress stalwart Harish Rawat, the chairman of the election management committee of Uttarakhand Congress, Harak Singh Rawat has said that the party will soon hold a protest outside the office of ED on the issue.
Interacting with the mediapersons at the Congress headquarters on Thursday, Rawat said that ED raid in connection with a 10 year old case clearly shows that the objective of the government is to harass Harish Rawat ahead of the Vidhan Sabha elections of 2027. On the question that ED and other central agencies can also target him and other leaders of opposition in Uttarakhand before the elections, Rawat said that he is not afraid of ED and other agencies. “They cannot intimidate me, they have tried in the past. I am not afraid of them,’’ he said.
Rawat however added that those in his family who got intimidated by ED have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Pertinently, Anukriti Guasain, the daughter in law of Harak Singh Rawat had joined BJP in April last year. Recently she was appointed as the spokesperson of Uttarakhand BJP.
