Traffic on several routes to be diverted in Doon today

The traffic will remain diverted on several routes in Dehradun today in view of the Independence Day programme. Entry of all vehicles, carts and street vendors will be completely restricted around the Parade Ground, which will be a zero zone during the parade. The officials informed that vehicles of Independence Day parade participants, security forces, media representatives and citizens attending the programme will be parked at Rangers Ground, Mangla Devi Inter College or IRDTA Auditorium near Survey Chowk, from where they can walk to the venue through Gates 4 and 5.

VIP and officials’ vehicles will be parked behind the stage ramp and in the sports field. Vehicles of elderly persons, children and women attending the event will also be parked at Rangers Ground, Mangla Devi Inter College or Doon Club. Vehicles arriving from Dharampur, Darshanlal Chowk and Doon Chowk will park at Rangers Ground, while those from Survey Chowk will park at Mangla Devi Inter College Ground. Vehicles from Rajpur Road will park on one side of Saint Joseph Subhash Road or inside Lord Venkatesh wedding point.

Vikram route diversions include return from Sahastradhara Crossing for Route 2, from Tehsil Chowk for Route 3 via Doon Chowk and MKP Chowk, from Railway Gate for Routes 5 and 8, from Prabhat Cut for Premnagar route and from Beni Bazaar to Rajpur Road for Rajpur route. City buses from ISBT towards Rajpur Road will go via Darshanlal Chowk and Clock Tower. Those from Rispana bridge side will return from Tehsil Chowk via Doon Chowk and MKP Chowk to Araghar. Buses from Raipur Road will go from Sahastradhara Crossing via IT Park and Rajpur Road to Ghantaghar. 

The officials informed that the police have placed nine barriers at outer and inner points around the Parade Ground to regulate traffic. Only VIP and pass-holder vehicles will be allowed entry at certain points. General public will park at Rangers Ground and walk to the venue through the designated gates.
