The district magistrate Savin Bansal led a raid at a warehouse in Roorkee on Thursday. The Warehouse supplies ration to Anganwadi centres in the Garhwal and Kumaon regions. During the inspection, several irregularities were found. Some food packets did not have proper manufacturing or expiry dates printed on them. “We found a child labourer working in the warehouse. I have directed officials to register an FIR against the warehouse owner,” said the DM.

During the inspection, several irregularities were found in the warehouse. The quality of eggs and other items, including dates and banana chips, was found doubtful. It was also found that eggs and other food items from December and January were being distributed in March.

Bansal also stopped vehicles that were about to deliver rations to Anganwadi centres in Tehri, Uttarkashi and Doiwala, and ordered sampling of the food materials. The action was taken to ensure safety and health of children and lactating mothers who receive nutrition from Anganwadi centres.
