Ridhima Pandey from Uttarakhand, India and 14 others petition in UNO declaring climate emergency

Ridhima Pandey is an environmental activist who hails from Haridwar, Uttarakhand has filed a petition with 14 other children before the United Nations Organisation (UNO) declaring climate emergency. These youth activists have taken the matter of climate change before the UN secretary general- António Guterres asking him to use his emergency powers and declaring “Level 3 emergency”. The same emergency was declared for the Covid-19 pandemic and is considered to be of the highest order.

Pandey is 2007 born and has immensely supported the idea of taking immediate actions against climate change. At the age of 9, she had filed a suit against the Indian government for not taking enough measures to fight climate change. She is a TEDxspeaker and has been in the list of BBC 100 most empowering and influencing women’s list of 2020.
