Rs 50 L theft cases: 2 arrested, stolen items recovered

The Ramnagar police claimed to have cracked two theft cases, involving about Rs 50 lakh. In connection with these cases, two accused have been arrested while two others are on the run. Police teams are conducting raids to nab the absconding duo.

The senior superintendent of police (SSP), Manjunath T C while addressing a press conference at the police office on Tuesday said that some thieves had stolen two gold biscuits, two gold bangles and two gold bracelets from the house of one Suman, a resident of Lakhanpur on December 11 “The arrested accused is Navneet Sharma from Chorapani village in Pirumadara,” he informed. Besides, a juvenile was detained in connection with the theft.  The stolen items were recovered which are estimated to be worth around Rs 30 lakh.

The SSP further informed that the second incident had taken place on November 4 during a wedding held at a resort in Ramnagar. “During the wedding,  Rs 12 lakh in cash and gold jewellery were stolen from the bag of the bride’s father. During investigation, names of Kunal and Abhinav, both from Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh, came to light. Both the accused are suspected to be members of the notorious Khansi Gang from Madhya Pradesh,” he said.

He further said that when the police team had reached near a school in Ramnagar to arrest them, the accused had fled. “We recovered Rs 12 lakh in cash and stolen gold jewellery from the spot,” he informed, adding that the absconders would be arrested soon.
