Teams of the Regional Transport Office conducted a campaign in various parts of the district to check violations by electric rickshaws.
According to officials, a total of 130 e-rickshaws were challaned while 10 were seized for serious violations. The campaign was undertaken on the instructions of regional transport officer (Enforcement and Road Safety) Anita Chamola. RTO teams conducted checks on Saharanpur Road, Kanwali Road, GMS Road, Shimla Bypass, ISBT-Haridwar bypass, Raipur, Sahastradhara Road and Rajpur Road along with other areas.
Similarly, checks were also carried out in various parts of Rishikesh and Vikasnagar. According to officials, the challans issued included 41 for lack of fitness certificate, 54 for driving without licence, 53 for no insurance, 13 for transporting goods, 12 for parking violation and four for overloading. Chamola said that this campaign against illegally plying vehicles will continue in the future. Strict action will be taken against those found violating traffic rules, she added.
