RTO suspended 6,711 DLs in 2024 for traffic violations

The regional transport office of Dehradun division suspended 6,711 driving licenses in 2024 for overspeeding, rash driving, drunk driving, using mobile phones while driving and jumping red lights. The enforcement team of the RTO also issued challans and forwarded the cases to the officials concerned for necessary action, the regional transport officer (Enforcement) of Dehradun Shailesh Tiwari said.
He informed that the RTO took this action to prevent repeat offenses as many continue to violate traffic laws after submitting the penalty.
Tiwari further informed that the RTO has received several cases of drunk driving for which, they have sent notices to the drivers concerned for hearings. He said that RTO is continuously taking action against repeat offenders this year as well, especially during nights.
